Israeli forces raided several home in the western town of Silat Al Harithiya in search of the “wanted” Wednesday morning. These types of pre-dawn raids beg the question, not only of the legitimacy that any Palestinian can legally be arrested by the Israelis as the occupying force, but whether there are any on this so-called “wanted” list.
Many residents and politicians believe that these are simply raids of harassment which ensure that residents do not get a good nights sleep and live their lives in fear of what they cannot predict.
A leader in Islamic Jihad, Sheikh Khalid Jaradat, told PNN that a large-scale military invasion began at dawn for the second day running. At least 20 Israeli military vehicles stormed the sleeping town with aircraft circling overhead.
The Sheikh said today that Israeli forces fired missiles from the skies and sound bombs at houses. Several exploded indoors.
Eyewitnesses report that Israeli forces surrounded the mosque during early morning prayers, shouting for the “wanted” come outside and surrender.
Later in the morning Israeli forces erected several military barriers at the entrances to the northern West Bank city of Jenin and tightened roadblocks and checkpoints. Soldiers detained dozens of vehicles and subjected drivers and passengers to invasive searches.
Other neighboring towns in the Jenin District reported similar conditions throughout the morning.
Israeli sources are reporting that they killed a man during the invasion and Palestinian sources report that Israeli forces killed two from Saraya Al Quds.
