Ramallah/PNN - The Ministry of Health announced on Friday evening an increase in the toll of the ongoing Israeli occupation's aggression against our people in Gaza and the West Bank to 1843 martyrs and 7138 injured.
The Ministry of Health clarified in a brief statement that the toll of martyrs in Gaza has risen to 1799 martyrs and 6388 injured, and in the West Bank, there are 44 martyrs and more than 700 injured, with about 250 reaching hospitals.
The spokesperson for the World Health Organization, Tarik Jasarevic, warned during a UN press conference in Geneva that the healthcare system in Gaza has ‘reached a point of collapse.’
According to the organization, six out of the seven major hospitals in the sector are now operating only partially.
Jasarevic stated, ‘The Beit Hanoun Hospital in northern Gaza is no longer functioning due to successive air strikes in its vicinity, causing damage to the hospital and nearby roads.’
He added that the two main hospitals in the northern sector, the Indonesian Hospital and Al-Shifa Hospital, have exceeded their total capacity of 760 beds.
He pointed out that 99% of the beds at Al-Shifa Hospital are occupied, while hospitals in southern Gaza have reached their maximum capacity.
He also noted that hospitals only have access to electricity for a few hours a day to save fuel, which is running out."
