NABLUS, West Bank / PNN /
Israeli settlers carried out a series of attacks Friday on villages south of Nablus, targeting property and clashing with residents and foreign activists, according to local officials and medical sources.
The assaults were concentrated in the villages of Jalud and Qusra, where settlers allegedly set fire to buildings and threw stones at homes.
Raed Al-Haj Mohammad, head of the Jalud village council, said settlers attacked the outskirts of the village and set fire to a storage facility and a vehicle belonging to resident Imad Hammoud. The blaze caused damage before residents were able to bring it under control.
He added that settlers also hurled stones at several homes, shattering windows and causing property damage.
In Qusra, two foreign activists were injured during an attack by settlers in the Ras Al-Ain area of the village, local sources said. The activists had been present in solidarity with residents when they were assaulted and beaten.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews treated a 71-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man who were injured during the incidents. Both were transported to hospital for further treatment.
