The Israeli occupation army announced on Sunday the capture of a Hezbollah member inside a tunnel, marking the first such incident since the start of the Israeli ground operation in southern Lebanon, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, citing a military spokesperson.

The newspaper reported that "the Israeli army discovered an opening to a tunnel in a building during an operation in southern Lebanon, leading to an underground tunnel used by Hezbollah members, along with a nearby exit."

It added, "the forces surrounded the building, explored the tunnel opening, and found an underground complex at a depth of about seven meters, where they discovered a Hezbollah member barricaded with weapons and equipment for a long-term stay."

It explained that "after the militant surrendered and was arrested, he was interrogated on-site and then transferred to a detention center in Israel, while Israeli army forces continue their operations in the area."
