Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, held the far-right Israeli government today responsible for the serious rise in Israeli violence against the Palestinian people, the latest of which was the arson attack by extremist settlers which targeted a house in the town of Sinjil, in the Ramallah province.
Abu Rudeineh also condemned the Israeli raid this early morning on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem and the physical assault on worshipers by Israeli police.
“The Israeli occupation government is trying to drag the region into the cycle of violence and escalation by ramping up its war against our Palestinian people, and by escalating murders, arson attacks and incursions into the holy sites,” he added.
Abu Rudeineh urged regional and international parties “to intervene, curb and press the government of extremism in Israel to stop the escalating attacks by its army and settlers during the holy month of Ramadan before an explosion of the situation in the region, the consequences of which will be borne by the Israeli government alone.”
