The Israeli military detained at least 17 Palestinians in overnight and early morning raids across the occupied territories, including a journalist.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said the Israeli forces detained the journalist Sabri Jibril, 35, after raiding and searching his home in the town of Tuquo, southeast of the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem.

Reports said the detention of Jibril came a few days after he was held at an Israeli army checkpoint after returning from an event in support of prisoners during which he took pictures of the event. His cellular phone and press card were seized when he was held at the checkpoint.

The army forces also detained six Palestinians from the Jerusalem governorate, including five from the town of Hizma, east of Jerusalem, and the sixth was from the town of Qatanna, northwest of Jerusalem, all detained during raids at his homes.

In the Ramallah area, soldiers raided Umm al-Sharayet neighborhood of al-Bireh city and detained a former prisoner after breaking into and searching his home.

In the northern West Bank city of Qalqilya, soldiers detained two Palestinians, one of them a former prisoner, and another was detained in the town of Tammoun, east of Tubas in the Jordan Valley.

Meanwhile, reports from the besieged Gaza Strip this morning said the Israeli navy detained six fishermen who were on two boats sailing in the Rafah waters in the south of the Strip. The Israeli navy seized the boats and detained the fishermen.
