The Central Elections Commission (CEC) and the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) announced today, Sunday, renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in partnership with the Civil Coalition for Elections Support and Observation, during the 2026 Legislative Elections, as an extension of the collaboration that took place during the last Local Elections.

The MoU aims to enhance collaboration among all entities interested in the protection of rights, liberties and freedoms relevant to the electoral process, providing channels for receiving complaints and comments, and its follow-up, in a manner that ensures citizens’ ability to exercise their political and electoral rights in accordance with the law.

The MoU includes cooperation across all stages of the electoral process, including nomination, electoral campaigning and polling, as well as the exchange of information, follow-up of issues and complaints received from citizens and participating entities/parties, and addressing them within the approved mandates and legal procedures.

Moreover, it provides for collaboration in monitoring practices that may affect human rights and electoral liberties and freedoms, as well as supporting the efforts for observing the electoral process, contributing to the enhancement of integrity, transparency and equal opportunities to all participants.

The CEC invited citizens, candidates and the various stakeholders of the electoral process to report any complaints or comments related to human rights and electoral freedoms and liberties, by corresponding with ICHR through its official channels and the dedicated landlines, allowing for follow-up according to procedures in place.

The CEC and ICHR emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration among relevant organizations to protect rights, freedoms and liberties during elections, providing clear channels for filing complaints and its follow-up, which enhancing public confidence and trust in the electoral process.
