JENIN, West Bank / PNN/

Israeli occupation forces began large-scale demolition operations on Monday in the village of Barta’a, southwest of Jenin, targeting 15 Palestinian homes on the grounds that they were built without permits, in one of the largest such actions in the area in recent years, local sources said.

The demolitions included multi-storey residential buildings, threatening to displace dozens of families and leaving them without shelter or property, according to residents.

The move comes amid what Palestinians describe as a broader Israeli policy of demolitions across the occupied West Bank. They say Israeli authorities impose strict restrictions on building permits, which are rarely granted, and then cite the lack of permits as grounds for demolishing homes and structures.

Residents warned that the ongoing operations could trigger a new humanitarian crisis, with more families at risk of forced displacement as demolitions continue.
