WASHINGTON / PNN/

A new U.S. public opinion poll shows that 57% of Americans support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, reflecting shifting attitudes toward Israel and Palestine.

According to the latest survey conducted by Gallup, there has been a noticeable change in American views compared with previous years.

Among Democrats, 65% said they sympathize more with Palestinians, compared with 17% who expressed greater sympathy for Israel. The survey indicated no significant shift within this group’s overall stance.

Among Republicans, 70% reported greater sympathy for Israel, while 13% said they sympathize more with Palestinians. However, support for Israel within this group declined by 10 percentage points compared with 2024, marking its lowest level since 2004.

Independents appeared to drive much of this year’s shift. Forty-one percent said they sympathize more with Palestinians, compared with 30% who favor Israel. In previous years, independents had leaned toward Israel, with 42% expressing sympathy for Israel and 34% for Palestinians.

The poll underscores evolving political divides in the United States over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly along party lines.
