During a phone call, both sides stressed the importance of preserving the unity of Palestinian territory between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and of linking stabilization efforts to a clear political horizon that delivers a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution; the only path to achieving security, stability, and lasting peace in the region.
They also underscored the need to adhere to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and fully implement its provisions in line with the US President Donald Trump’s plan, as well as to advance to the second phase of the agreement.
The Egyptian and Jordanian top diplomats emphasized the importance of allowing sufficient and sustained humanitarian aid into the Strip, forming a Palestinian technocratic committee to govern Gaza, deploying an international stabilisation force, and creating the necessary conditions for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
Middle East crises
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty and Safadi also addressed the latest regional developments, affirming the importance of achieving security and stability in Syria, respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
On Lebanon, both sides stressed the need to halt Israeli attacks on the country, reaffirming their support for Beirut, as well as its security, stability, sovereignty, and the state’s efforts to strengthen its national institutions.
Addressing the situation in Yemen, the ministers affirmed their support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation and reducing tensions in Yemen, backing Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue in a manner that ensures Yemen’s security and stability, respects its sovereignty, and meets the aspirations of its people.
During the call, both sides also expressed their categorical rejection of Israel’s recognition of the breakaway region of Somaliland, reaffirming their full support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, considering it a cornerstone for stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
