Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, stressed the need to restore the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and rejected any calls to displace Palestinians from their lands.

This came during a joint press conference between Presidents el-Sisi and Macron at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Sisi stated that promoting peace in the Middle East will only be achieved by settling the Palestinian issue.

He added, "I discussed with the French president ways to find a political horizon to resolve the Palestinian issue."

Sisi said that he and President Macron discussed the ongoing developments on the regional and international scene, most notably the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip.

He added, "We emphasized the need to return to an immediate ceasefire, allow the urgent entry of humanitarian aid, and release the hostages."

Sisi added, "We agreed to reject any calls to displace Palestinians from their land. I reviewed with President Macron the Arab plan for the recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and we agreed to coordinate joint efforts regarding the Gaza Reconstruction Conference, which Egypt intends to host once the war on the Strip has ceased."

Sisi continued, "In this context, I discussed with President Macron ways to establish a credible political horizon to revive the peace process and establish a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

For his part, Macron said that there is an Egyptian-French consensus to condemn the resumption of the Israeli war on Gaza, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of prisoners.

He added, "Negotiations on Gaza must resume without delay, and we appreciate Egypt's efforts to support calming the situation in the Gaza Strip."

Macron continued, "We support the Arab plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, agree with Egypt on developing an agenda for regional stability, stand against the displacement of Palestinians from their lands, and reject the annexation of Gaza and the West Bank."
