Ibn Sina Hospital announced today that 59-year-old Hanane Abdul Rahman Abu Salameh was martyred, succumbing to injuries from gunfire by Israeli occupation forces in the village of Faqu'a, northeast of Jenin.

Eyewitnesses reported that Abu Salameh was shot in the chest by occupation forces while she was picking olives with her family in the area near the separation wall built on the lands of Faqu'a.

This year, the olive-picking season in the West Bank is marked by repeated attacks from settlers and occupation forces, including the burning and uprooting of olive trees, theft of the harvest, and preventing farmers from accessing their lands.

This morning, settlers opened fire on participants in an event organized by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission aimed at assisting farmers from the village of Kafr Labad, east of Tulkarm, in harvesting olives from their lands.

UN experts stated yesterday that farmers in the occupied West Bank are facing the most dangerous olive season ever.

They noted that Palestinian farmers are subjected to intimidation, restricted access to their lands, severe harassment, and attacks from armed settlers. The experts characterized the restrictions on the olive-picking season, the destruction of orchards, and the prevention of access to water sources as attempts by Israel to expand its illegal settlements
