The Israeli occupation forces have destroyed about 200,000 housing units, either completely or partially, since the start of the aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, which makes more than 25% of the populated areas, today said Minister of Public Works and Housing Mohammad Ziyara.
“The criminality of the occupier in the current aggression is unprecedented,” he said in a statement. “The occupation’s bombing erased entire families from the civil registry, erased neighborhoods, and residential communities with their inhabitants, and also destroyed facilities, including hospitals, places of worship, bakeries, water filling stations, markets, schools, and educational and service institutions.”
The minister said that all aspects of life have been destroyed, including health, housing, water, sanitation, infrastructure, economy, agriculture, education, services, humanitarian institutions, and cutting off water, electricity, and fuel, and that the basic necessities of life have become unavailable and people’s lives are threatened either by bombing or the absence of health care or scarcity of water and food.
He said efforts are underway with the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent to secure the minimum necessities of life, explaining that the working conditions of the organizations are very difficult as a committee headed by the Ministry of Public Works, in coordination with the United Nations, is delivering the aid that enters through the Rafah crossing, which does not meet the minimum requirements, warning that continuation of the situation in this way in Gaza threatens the lives of thousands of civilians.
