Strengthening Support for Palestinian Refugees: PLO Engages in Talks with South Korea's KOICA

Anwar Hammam, the Deputy minister of the Refugee Affairs Department in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), discussed avenues of mutual cooperation with the Director of the International Development and Cooperation Agency of South Korea, "KOICA," Mingjong Kim. 

The discussion focused on issues related to serving the cause of Palestinian refugees in the camps.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Korean International Development and Cooperation Agency in Ramallah, with the participation of May Awadah, the official in charge of international relations and fundraising in the Refugee Affairs Department. 

Hammam briefed the Korean side on the latest developments in the camps and the situation of the refugees in light of the complicated political conditions and the Israeli attacks targeting the camps. He also highlighted the humanitarian, political, and social suffering resulting from these Israeli practices.

Hammam also emphasized the efforts, responsibilities, tasks, programs, and activities of the Refugee Affairs Department to enhance the resilience of our people in the camps.

In turn, Kim welcomed the delegation from the Refugee Affairs Department and briefed them on the programs of the Korean International Development and Cooperation Agency's office, current projects, and the possibility of developing and enhancing relations to achieve genuine cooperation aimed at supporting Palestinian refug in the camps within the framework of these Korean programs.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue meetings and communications in order to create fruitful mechanisms of future cooperation.
