Two Palestinians were killed and three injured in an Israeli army assault on Balata refugee camp in Nablus this morning, according to the Ministry of Health and the Red Crescent.
The two were identified as Saed Jihad Masheh, 32, and Adnan Wasim Araj, 19, who were shot in the head, while the injured, including an elderly woman, were reported to be in stable condition.
A large Israeli occupation force raided the camp, east of the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus, and surrounded a house.
WAFA reporter said a special undercover unit along with occupation forces surrounded a house in the center of the camp as snipers were deployed on rooftops.
Confrontations broke out between the residents and the soldiers who opened gunfire and shot tear gas canisters at the people, causing deaths and injuries.
He noted that the Israeli forces sealed the camp’s entrances and demanded over loudspeakers for whoever was in the house to turn himself over or they will blow up the house.
However, when the soldiers left the area, there were no signs of anyone killed in the house, which reports said they could have escaped.
The Ministry of Health said a total of 150 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli forces since the start of the year, including 33 killed in Israel's current assault on the Gaza Strip.
