"Tekeyat Aida", affiliated with Alrowwad Society, provided more than 9500 hot iftar meals during the first and second week of Ramadan 2023 to the needy, fasting, and citizens of modest means within marginalized areas in Aida Camp and neighboring areas in Bethlehem Governorate. The kitchen delivered its hot meals at a minimum rate of 500 per day, reaching 700 in the second week.
Al-Rawad's staff and volunteers work daily to prepare iftar meals in the kitchen under the supervision of a group of volunteer chefs at Tekeyat Aida for the fourth consecutive year. The work in the kitchen starts early in the morning when the chicken, meat, and vegetables are prepared, washed, and cooked, and the daily requirements for the kitchen are prepared to start cooking the meals. A specialized team is responsible for communicating with families and informing them that their iftar meal for the day is at Tekeyat Aida. The kitchen volunteers send the hot iftar meals to the families' homes in AidaCamp and neighboring areas, in accordance with Al-Rawad Association's slogan, #LabbaykBaitak, which recommends not serving the meals in the kitchen and delivering them to the families in their homes to preserve their dignity and safety.
Alrowwad Society considers the diversity of meals during the holy month and provides famous Palestinian cuisine, which fasting people are accustomed to during Ramadan. The kitchen witnessed the preparation of Mansaf, Kabsa, Musakhan, and Qidreh, in addition to various types of lentil, vegetable, and yogurt soups, as well as Jarishah, alongside dates.
Alrowwad Society hopes to distribute more than 20,000 meals by the end of the holy month, which requires effort and financial support from good people, businessmen, and the private sector. Tekeyat Aida represents a model of giving, work, and brotherhood, and has restored the importance of voluntary work and donations, which has had a significant impact on society.
