The High National Committee for Commemorating the Nakba held its first preparatory meeting, chaired by member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and head of Refugee Affairs Department , Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, at the headquarters of the Department of Refugee Affairs in Gaza City, in the presence of governors of Gaza Strip governorates, representatives of factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization, official and popular institutions, the General Union of Women, and the youth.

The meeting discussed the preparation of a unified program of activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nakba, and the messages that will be conveyed to the international community in light of the fascist crimes of the Israeli occupation government against the Palestinian people and its racist laws.

The meeting also discussed how to invest in the United Nations resolution to commemorate the Nakba in the General Assembly of the United Nations in support of the Palestinian cause and to support the speech of President Mahmoud Abbas on this occasion at the United Nations.

Dr. Abu Holi confirmed that the activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Nakba will carry important political messages to the international community, confirming the end of the occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem, the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes from which they were displaced in 1948, according to Resolution 194, and the provision of international protection for our Palestinian people against the crimes of the Israeli occupation.

Dr. Abu Holi added that this year's Nakba anniversary comes in the context of a UN decision to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nakba in a high-level event for the first time in seven and a half decades in the General Assembly of the United Nations, which represents international recognition of the Palestinian Nakba and the tragedy of our Palestinian people that has not yet ended.

Dr. Abu Holi stressed that the Nakba activities will take on a different character this year, not limited to popular and mass activities but also extending to political and diplomatic action in the corridors of the United Nations and European countries, as well as holding scientific and intellectual conferences with an international character.

Dr. Abu Houli stressed the need to unify efforts in organizing national and popular events in Palestine, refugee camps, and in all places where the Palestinian people are present, in commemoration of the Palestinian Nakba's 75th anniversary, coinciding with President Abbas's speech at the United Nations on May 15th. This aims to raise the voice of the Palestinian right and our people, who are exposed daily to the crimes of the Israeli occupation and all forms of racism, in plain sight and hearing of the world and before the silence of the international community, which has not moved a finger to stop it or hold the perpetrators accountable.

The attendees emphasized that the Palestinian Nakba is a fundamental turning point in the Palestinian issue and that the program of activities commemorating it should rise to the level of the anniversary, whose ramifications are still ongoing. They emphasized that there should be a unified program to commemorate the Nakba with simultaneous events in all Palestinian locations, refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan, and in Palestinian communities, under one slogan, one poster, one political speech, and under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

The attendees pointed out that the Palestinian issue is at a critical juncture, facing the fascist
