The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that over 30,000 people in the Gaza Strip are in need for travel through the Rafah border crossing.

According to report released OCHA report these people are officially registered for travel in Gaza, including 9,500 individuals with medical conditions and 2,700 students.

The UN organization said that the Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah crossing last Wednesday exceptionally for only two days after 85 days of closure.

During those two days, the Egyptian authorities allowed only 739 Palestinians to exit and 1,220 others to enter Gaza, it added.

The Rafah border crossing is the only outlet connecting Gaza with Egypt and it has been closed completely since July 2013 under security pretexts.
