The Israeli army discovers the bodies of two fighters in Rafah

Israeli army radio announced on Sunday morning that forces had discovered four bodies in the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, believed to be those of fighters trapped in the area.

The army radio quoted a security source claiming that the forces “killed all the commanders besieged in Rafah,” suggesting that the bodies found may belong to the commander of the Al-Qassam Battalion in the Al-Jeneina neighborhood and his deputy, according to army estimates.

The Israeli army claims that its forces are deployed in the southern area “in accordance with the requirements of the ceasefire agreement, and continue to act firmly to eliminate any immediate threat,” as it stated.

It is worth noting that last Friday, the army announced that it had killed nine Palestinians inside a tunnel east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in the tunnel at that time to more than 30.

The army alleged that forces from the Nahal and Golani brigades were continuing operations in the eastern Rafah area, and that during an activity carried out by combat teams, “nine additional militants were detected and killed inside the tunnel.”

The army suggested that “the elimination of the militants resulted from the intensive operations” in the area, which it claimed included “addressing and destroying tunnel routes through airstrikes and engineering means
