Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman at the Royal Court in Riyadh.
The meeting was attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s diplomatic advisor Majdi Al-Khaldi, and on the Saudi side by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and National Security Advisor Musaed Al-Aiban.
During the meeting, Vice President Al-Sheikh conveyed President Abbas’s greetings to King Salman and the Crown Prince, expressing gratitude for the Kingdom’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their just cause across all fronts.
In response, the Crown Prince sent his greetings to President Abbas and emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to secure international recognition of the State of Palestine and support for the upcoming International Peace Conference scheduled in New York on September 22.
The discussions covered the latest developments in Palestine, including the U.S. visa restrictions on the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations and strategies to mobilize international recognition of the Palestinian state during the upcoming conference.
The meeting also addressed the critical situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including settlement expansion, settler violence, and the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues.
Regarding Gaza, both sides stressed the priority of an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, Palestinian state responsibility over Gaza, linking it with the West Bank under Palestinian sovereignty, full Israeli withdrawal, and reconstruction with Arab and international support.
The two sides reaffirmed continued close coordination between Palestine and Saudi Arabia to confront current challenges and strengthen Arab and international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and realizing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
