The southern Hebron town of Dura hosted a mass wedding bringing together 44 couples, or 88 brides and grooms, in a community initiative aimed at supporting young people preparing to marry and easing the financial burden of holding separate wedding celebrations.

The event drew large crowds of residents and participants in a festive atmosphere. It provided an opportunity to celebrate the newlyweds, honor those who contributed to the initiative’s success and highlight the spirit of solidarity and community support in Dura.

Groom Abdul Karim Al-Bastanji expressed his gratitude to Dura Mayor Abu Al-Saeed and everyone involved in organizing the mass wedding, saying he was happy to take part in the celebration and the festivities surrounding it.

Al-Bastanji said the large turnout reflected the level of community support and participation, thanking everyone who attended and shared in the couples’ joy.

He said initiatives of this kind provide important support to young people, particularly amid difficult circumstances, adding that Dura Municipality is helping young couples begin their married lives and establish new homes and families.

He expressed hope that the newly formed families would enjoy successful and stable lives.

Limor Al-Sous, deputy mayor of Dura, said 44 couples, or 88 brides and grooms, took part in this year’s mass wedding.

She said the initiative gives couples an opportunity to celebrate together, helping reduce the financial burdens and costs associated with organizing individual wedding ceremonies.

Al-Sous said the initiative goes beyond simply holding a collective celebration. Each bride and groom was given their full rights and privacy inside the wedding hall, with a program and arrangements designed to reflect the details of traditional wedding celebrations held in Dura.

She said the day was also intended to celebrate the initiative and extend congratulations to the participating couples, while recognizing the efforts of supporters and contributors.

The initiative, she added, reflects the spirit of solidarity and mutual support fostered in Dura under the auspices of the municipality and with the participation of various supporting organizations and community groups.

The initiative is part of broader community efforts to support young people and share in their celebrations, turning marriage into an occasion for solidarity and cooperation while strengthening a sense of community participation and responsibility in Dura and the Hebron governorate.

Amid the joy of the newlyweds and the presence of their families and residents, the event offered a picture of community solidarity and a message of support for young people as they begin the journey of building new families, with widespread participation and congratulations from residents.
