Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, on Thursday, briefed an Italian parliamentary delegation headed by Laura Boldrini, in the presence of Jibril Rajoub, Secretary-General of Fatah’s Central Committee and Head of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports, on the latest political and on-the-ground developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister highlighted the efforts underway to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming the State of Palestine’s authority over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, under a single government, law, and security authority. He stressed that there can be no Palestinian state without the Gaza Strip.

Mustafa stated: “We have a reconstruction and recovery plan for the Gaza Strip, along with an executive program that has been adopted by Arab and Islamic countries, and is supported by the international community through the New York Declaration. We are working with our sister nation, Egypt, to organize a reconstruction and recovery conference in Cairo.”

The Prime Minister also reviewed the field developments in the West Bank amid the ongoing aggression by the occupation army and settlers—particularly in the northern West Bank governorates, most recently the continued assault on Tubas Governorate. He also addressed Israel’s measures and its withholding of Palestinian tax revenues for the sixth consecutive month, which impacts the government’s ability to fulfill its obligations to the Palestinian people and provide essential services.

Mustafa added: “We seek a political solution to achieve sustainable peace based on the two-state solution and the realization of the Palestinian state, ensuring that the aggression against our people is not repeated.”

He further expressed his appreciation for the Italian people’s supportive stance toward the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights to freedom, independence, and self-determination.

For their part, the Italian delegation reaffirmed their supportive and solidaristic position toward the Palestinian people, grounded in their commitment to international and humanitarian law and rejection of international double standards. They underscored the ongoing international efforts to support the Palestinian people, their legitimate rights to an independent state, and to end their suffering in the Gaza Strip, as well as to stop settler attacks and occupation measures in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
