The Palestinian National Council said that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, declared by the United Nations, represents a global commitment to standing against the continuous violations and crimes threatening the existence and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The Council stated in a Wednesday release that Israel’s crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, constitute violations of international humanitarian law and fall within organized policies aimed at ethnic cleansing and forced displacement.
It reaffirmed that the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent, sovereign state on the June 4 borders with Jerusalem as its capital is a firmly established right recognized by the UN and the international community, and cannot be overridden by force or imposed realities.
The Council called for serious international action to stop the aggression, lift the siege, protect civilians, and hold accountable those responsible for grave violations against the Palestinian people.
It stressed that true solidarity gains meaning when it translates into concrete steps that guarantee protection of the national and human rights of the Palestinian people.
The National Council expressed its appreciation for all countries, popular movements, parliamentary bodies, and human rights groups around the world that express support for justice and freedom for the Palestinian people.
