The Palestinian Civil Society Network renewed its urgent appeal to international human rights and humanitarian organizations to save the lives of displaced citizens, victims of occupation crimes, after the destruction of shelters and displacement centers due to a severe weather system striking the Palestinian territories since Tuesday morning. The storm caused dozens of tents to be washed away or destroyed, particularly in the central areas and the al-Mawasi neighborhood of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The network called for enabling relevant authorities — including civil defense, the health sector, and local and international organizations — to deliver tents, equipment, and humanitarian and food aid to address the aftermath of the disaster. It stressed that the continued Israeli restrictions on the entry of essential supplies constitute ongoing daily extermination and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, especially as less than 200 trucks are allowed entry daily out of the 600 agreed upon.
The network pointed out that over 92% of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, emphasizing the urgent need for international measures to lift the blockade and protect civilians amid ongoing escalation and daily attacks by the occupation. These assaults have resulted in more than 339 deaths and 871 injuries, over 500 daily violations of prior agreements, ongoing demolitions and displacement in the Strip, and expanding attacks in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, as part of the occupation’s plan to enforce discriminatory measures on the ground.
The network also highlighted that over 90% of Gaza’s population suffers from malnutrition due to severe food shortages, contaminated water, and the absence of basic necessities for human life. It called on the international community to act immediately to address this humanitarian catastrophe
