United Nations Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said on Tuesday that humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip continue to face severe restrictions due to insufficient supplies being allowed into the territory.

Dujarric emphasized that the enormous humanitarian needs require the UN to have full access to all areas of Gaza, calling for the lifting of restrictions and the unhindered flow of life-saving aid to the population.

He added that more than 13,000 families in Gaza were affected by the recent weather downturn.

Earlier, the Government Media Office in Gaza stated that the Israeli occupation is causing a “tragic sheltering disaster” and exacerbating an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Strip, noting that displaced people are facing winter without protection.

The office warned that Gaza is experiencing an unparalleled humanitarian catastrophe, where more than 288,000 Palestinian families are enduring extreme hardship under harsh weather conditions and without the minimum essentials for life.

It highlighted that tens of thousands of tents housing hundreds of thousands of displaced people were flooded during the first winter storm of the season, “a scene that reflects the scale of suffering and the failure of the international community to provide adequate shelter.”

The office indicated that Gaza urgently needs 300,000 tents and mobile homes to secure basic humanitarian shelter, “yet the world has not acted as required.”

According to the Government Media Office, the occupation continues its policy of obstruction, preventing the entry of tents, shelters, and plastic coverings, keeping Gaza’s crossings closed, and delaying the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

It pointed out that the occupation is shirking its obligations under the humanitarian protocol concerning Gaza’s humanitarian situation, “in an attempt to impose new forms of collective punishment by deepening the humanitarian disaster.”

The office described the occupation’s insistence on fully closing Gaza’s crossings and preventing the delivery of shelter materials as a “catastrophic crime.”

It called on U.S. President Donald Trump, mediating countries, and the guarantor parties of the “Gaza Agreement” to take serious and immediate action to compel the occupation to comply with what it signed in the ceasefire agreement and the humanitarian protocol.
