The Ministry of Women’s Affairs, in cooperation with the Women’s Development Organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), launched a joint report documenting the reality of Palestinian women and the violations they face as a result of the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The launch took place in a widely attended event by Arab and international delegations in Cairo.

In her speech, Minister of Women’s Affairs Mona Al-Khalili emphasized that the meeting comes at a difficult moment for the Palestinian people, pointing out that the aggression targets human beings, dignity, and the future. She stressed that Palestinian women remain a symbol of resilience and hope, preserving life amid the rubble and confronting pain with willpower and determination.

She stated that the report reflects a clear picture of women’s needs and aligns with the emergency plan and the Palestinian government program focused on relief, rapid recovery, and reconstruction, stressing the importance of ensuring that women are not excluded from any stage of rebuilding and state-building.

Al-Khalili clarified that these priorities include all categories of women, including female prisoners, widows, orphans, women with disabilities, and those deprived of care, to ensure a fair and comprehensive recovery for Palestinian women.

The report includes a range of national interventions across multiple sectors, such as rebuilding schools and educational facilities, expanding digital and remote learning, implementing compensatory programs for affected girls, linking vocational education to reconstruction plans and the labor market, rebuilding health facilities, establishing reproductive and mental health centers, providing free healthcare within social protection frameworks, training female health personnel, integrating psychosocial support into the national health system, supporting small and medium enterprises, employing women in reconstruction and cash-for-work programs, promoting entrepreneurship and digital marketing, encouraging the private sector to adopt gender certification and equal pay standards, implementing gender-sensitive reconstruction, ensuring women’s access to essential services, developing digital infrastructure, adopting inclusive designs that consider the needs of women with disabilities and the elderly, involving women in reconstruction, planning, and oversight committees, strengthening property and inheritance rights, establishing mobile legal clinics, recovering lost documents, and reviewing legislation to ensure equality and non-discrimination.

She also emphasized the necessity of enabling the Palestinian government to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza, considering this the true pathway to stability and sustainable national recovery, and affirmed that a just and comprehensive political solution based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve peace.

At the end of her speech, Al-Khalili thanked the Women’s Development Organization of the OIC for its partnership and ongoing support, stressing that Palestinian women will remain genuine partners in the journey of building an independent Palestinian state and in the pursuit of liberation, justice, and peace.
