The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued its first official comment today, Tuesday, on X, following the UN Security Council’s adoption of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, affirming that the plan would “bring peace and prosperity.”

Netanyahu’s office stated that the plan emphasizes disarming Gaza and eliminating sources of extremism, considering it a foundation for achieving stability in the coming phase.

The statement added that Israel expects the return of all hostages without delay and the immediate commencement of the disarmament of the Gaza Strip and the end of Hamas rule.

On the 39th day of the ceasefire, the Security Council approved U.S. draft resolution 2803, supporting President Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict, issued on September 29, 2025.

Thirteen members of the UN Security Council voted in favor of the text, described by U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, as “historic and constructive.” Russia and China abstained from voting but did not use their veto rights.

U.S. President Donald Trump praised the Security Council’s adoption of the resolution supporting the creation of a “Peace Council” in Gaza, calling the vote a “historic moment” and “one of the largest decisions in UN history.”

Trump said in a statement on his platform, Truth Social, that the resolution “officially establishes” the Peace Council, which he will chair and which includes internationally “strongest and most respected leaders in the world.” He added that this step “will lead to further peace globally.”

Trump thanked the member states that voted in favor, including China, Russia, the U.K., and France, as well as Arab and Islamic countries that supported the initiative, such as Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, and Jordan. He also noted that the names of council members and other important announcements will be released in the coming weeks.
