As part of a project aimed at revitalizing education in the Gaza Strip and returning children to school after two years of war, Qatar Charity has completed the distribution of 45,000 school bags through its campaign “Labbayk Gaza… Duty and Loyalty.”
Qatar Charity stated in a press release that “this project is not limited to distributing school bags only; it also includes rehabilitating damaged classrooms to provide a suitable learning environment and offering incentives to teachers to improve their living conditions.”
The organization added that its teams continue efforts to rehabilitate classrooms in Gaza, with nearly 60 classrooms prepared so far. In the coming period, teacher incentives will be distributed, benefiting thousands of students and educators overall.
According to international estimates, more than 650,000 children in Gaza are deprived of their basic right to education. Reports from UNICEF and UNRWA indicate that 95% of schools in the region have been destroyed or severely damaged, meaning about 500 out of 564 schools are no longer usable.
In a related effort, Qatar Charity recently delivered a batch of shelter tents and essential humanitarian supplies through the Rafah crossing via the Qatari humanitarian bridge. Through its “Labbayk Gaza… Duty and Loyalty” campaign, the organization continues other relief projects, distributing around 26,000 food baskets benefiting 130,000 displaced persons, and providing 2.4 million liters of potable water across various areas of the Strip.
On October 10, a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into effect in Gaza, ending a genocide that claimed over 69,000 Palestinian lives and left more than 170,000 injured. The conflict caused massive destruction, damaging approximately 90% of civil infrastructure, with preliminary losses estimated at around $70 billion.
