The Russian-Ukrainian front witnessed an intense night of aerial attacks, as the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems had destroyed 57 Ukrainian drones overnight, according to TASS agency on Sunday.

Conversely, Ukraine stated that it carried out an attack targeting the Ryazan oil refinery, located 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow, reporting consecutive explosions and a large fire at the site as part of what it described as efforts to "reduce Russia’s ability to conduct missile strikes."

Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov said that Russian air defenses shot down 25 drones over the region, and that falling debris caused a fire in a building belonging to one of the companies.

The Ukrainian strike came one day after Russian attacks targeted residential buildings in the capital Kyiv, killing seven people.

Alongside the military escalation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country is working to resume prisoner exchange operations with Moscow, hoping to release around 1,200 detained Ukrainians.

In a video message on Telegram, he said that a series of meetings and negotiations are underway toward this goal.

National Security Council Chairman Rustem Umerov confirmed that he held consultations in Turkey and the UAE, with support from "Kyiv’s partners," to advance the exchange process.

Amid the field escalation and diplomatic maneuvers, the war continues along two parallel tracks: one in the air through drones, and the other behind the scenes, seeking a new humanitarian deal.
