Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiyya, Director of the Al‑Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, stated that the health situation in the territory is experiencing an unprecedented catastrophe due to the depletion of essential medicines and the Israeli occupation’s prevention of their entry for weeks.

He explained that the complex recorded six deaths among patients in the last hours—lives that could have been saved if the necessary medicines and medical supplies had been available.

He added that the mortality rate among premature infants has risen to 35%, due to the shortage of specialized care, medicines, and intravenous solutions, warning of the worsening crisis with the continued siege.

Dr. Abu Salmiyya confirmed that the severe shortage of basic medical tools makes it impossible to deal with critical cases and save the wounded.

He emphasized that the medical teams represent the backbone of the health system’s resilience in Gaza, despite working under extremely difficult conditions, and called for urgent international intervention to save the health sector from total collapse.

The Ministry of Health – Gaza announced today (Sunday) that seven martyrs, including three recovered from under the rubble, arrived at hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, while six others were injured to varying degrees.

The ministry explained that among the martyrs was one who succumbed to previous wounds, noting that “a number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, where ambulance and civil‑defence teams are unable to reach them at present.”

According to the statistical report issued by the ministry, the toll of the Israeli aggression since 7 October 2023 has risen to 68,865 martyrs and 170,670 injured.

Since the cease‑fire agreement on 11 October, the number of martyrs has reached 236, while 600 wounded have arrived at hospitals and 502 bodies have been retrieved from the rubble.
