The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported that the Israeli army is destroying approximately 300 housing units daily, either partially or completely, in Gaza City and Jabalia, using around 15 explosive-laden vehicles carrying nearly 100 tons of explosives.

In a statement on Monday, the monitor said these explosions are occurring at an unprecedented pace, aiming to obliterate Gaza and displace its residents, as part of what it describes as an ongoing genocide in the Strip over the past 23 months.

The field team documented the increasing use of armored remotely controlled explosive vehicles to destroy residential blocks, with significant intensification since the Israeli military ended its so-called temporary humanitarian truce last Friday, raising the number of daily explosive vehicles from about seven to 15.

Each vehicle carries up to seven tons of explosives, targeted at neighborhoods including Jabalia Al-Balad, Jabalia Al-Nuzla, Al-Zaytoun, Al-Sabra, Al-Shuja’iya, Al-Tuffah, as well as Safatwi and Abu Iskandar areas.

The monitor warned that at this rate, Israel could destroy the remaining parts of Gaza City within two months. Each vehicle is estimated to destroy around 20 housing units, potentially displacing hundreds of thousands of people under lethal conditions, without basic means for survival.

These explosive vehicles are often converted military vehicles loaded with explosives and remotely guided into civilian areas, detonated to maximize destruction. In some cases, the explosives are offloaded at the target site and the vehicles reused.

The monitor emphasized that the destruction is not limited to physical damage but also serves as psychological warfare, with many explosions occurring late at night or at dawn to instill terror and force residents to flee. The blasts are audible up to 40 kilometers away, reflecting the extensive scale of destruction.

Euro-Med condemned the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable, noting that the use of such indiscriminate explosive vehicles violates international humanitarian law and constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity, as it causes mass civilian deaths, forced displacement, and destruction of essential infrastructure.

The organization highlighted that over one million Palestinians in Gaza face existential threats due to the ongoing destruction, starvation policies, and forced displacement, amid an unprecedented silence from the international community.
