Israel’s public broadcaster reported Monday that the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has implemented “special and exceptional measures” to protect senior Israeli government officials.
The source said that threats against top officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, have significantly increased following the assassination of prominent Houthi leaders in Yemen.
“In recent days, the Israeli military has taken special and exceptional steps to protect the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and senior officials amid explicit Yemeni threats of retaliation,” the source added.
On Saturday, Yemen’s Houthi movement announced the assassination of Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahwi and several ministers in Israeli airstrikes targeting a government workshop in western Yemen last Thursday.
Al-Rahwi is the highest-ranking political official killed in the Houthi-Israeli confrontation related to the Gaza war.
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi on Sunday threatened further attacks using missiles and drones.
