RAMALLAH/ PNN /

A diplomatic delegation on Monday evening paid a solidarity visit to Kafr Malik, the recent target of a killing spree by Israeli forces and colonists and located to the northwest of Ramallah.

Comprising ambassadors and representatives of 22 diplomatic missions and representative offices, the delegation made their way to Kafr Malik, where the occupying forces killed three civilians on Wednesday after intervening to protect colonists during a violent assault on the village.

Laila Ghannam, Ramallah Governor, and Muayyad Shaban, head of the head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, along with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefed the delegation on the situation of Palestinians suffering the brunt of Israeli violations and actions.

EU Representative to the West Bank and Gaza, Alexandre Stutzmann, stressed the joint responsibility of all actors to halt colonists’ violence, protect defenseless civilians in Palestinian villages and towns across the occupied West Bank, and hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.

He added that the visit was intended to convey a message of solidarity from the EU to the Palestinian people, while noting that colonists’ attacks have reached an unacceptable level.

He reiterated the EU’s longstanding position that Israeli colonies constitute not only a clear violation of international law, but also an obstacle to peace, and that the final sustainable solution shall be based on the two-state solution.
