Ramallah (PNN) –

The Department of Refugee Affairs  in the Palestine Liberation Organization condemned the massacre at Al-Nuseirat Preparatory School for Girls, known as "Al-Jaouni," which is affiliated with UNRWA. The department called on UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini to take practical measures to form an independent international commission to investigate the deaths of UNRWA employees and displaced persons at its facilities, and the targeting of its installations.

The Department of Refugee Affairs in the Palestine Liberation Organization urged the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and the General Assembly to assume their responsibilities and urgently intervene to stop the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The department stated that the Israeli government continues its extensive illegal violations and breaches of all international resolutions, committing war crimes by targeting UNRWA. This includes the destruction of its headquarters, killing its staff, and bombing displaced persons at its facilities to eliminate its presence and prevent it from operating in the Gaza Strip. The lack of accountability and impunity has allowed Israel to undermine the refugee issue and disregard international laws and resolutions regarding Palestinian refugees.

The department added that the targeting of Al-Nuseirat Preparatory School for Girls yesterday, which is crowded with unarmed civilian displaced persons from various areas of the Gaza Strip, resulted in the death of 16 displaced persons and dozens of injuries.

Since the start of the war on October 7, the Israeli government has targeted UNRWA employees, resulting in the death of 195 employees and dozens of injuries. The number of attacks on UNRWA facilities has reached 189, and the number of displaced persons killed in these facilities has reached 536, most of whom are women and children.
