In Gaza, he called on members of the Palestinian security forces in the West Bank to be accountable to their people.
During a mass march organized by the Islamic Jihad movement, Habib stated, "What happened in Jenin is a glory that we must accumulate until the decisive battle with this occupier who seeks to divide the unity of our people. Habib reaffirmed that the rifles of the Mujahideen will remain raised against the Zionist enemy, emphasizing that the Palestinian people are united and fighting one enemy, the Zionist enemy. The sole loser in this situation is the one who craved confrontations, clashes, and gunfire, indulging in their bloodthirsty imagination and political agenda. Fatah stressed that the true victors are always our people and their unity, and they will transcend these days with the wisdom of true revolutionaries, not boastful pretenders.
Security Crackdown in Jenin: Arrests Made in Connection to Police Station Attack
For his part Jenin Governor Major General Akram Rajoub said that the recent arrests conducted by security forces have targeted individuals suspected of involvement in an attack on a police station. The governor of Jenin, Major General Akram Rajoub, confirmed that the recent arrest campaign targeted individuals implicated in the assault on a police center, with the first detainee being affiliated with the Fatah movement.
In a statement, Rajoub stated, "Coordinating with the aggression launched by the Israeli occupation on Jenin city and refugee camp, on July 3, 2023, a group of outlaws and national offenders attacked a police station in Jaba town. They set fire to a significant part of the facility and a police vehicle while also threatening the station's personnel, exploiting the city's tense situation and challenges it faces."
The security institutions in Jenin, with their unwavering commitment to protect the city and its refugee camp from the aggression, ensured that no event would disrupt their resilience. They worked hand in hand with all official institutions to address the aftermath of the attack. Nevertheless, this did not mean turning a blind eye to the unprecedented and blatant assault. Thus, specialized security agencies initiated investigations to identify the instigators and assailants behind the police station attack. Consequently, several suspects were apprehended, disregarding any political motives or organizational affiliations. Unfortunately, the involved individuals were found to be associated with various groups, including Jihad and Hamas, with the first detainee being linked to Fatah. The respectable people of Jaba are well aware of these details; hence, there is no room for evasion or compromise at the expense of the system and the law.
Governor Rajoub emphasized that when the security institutions arrest any Palestinian citizen, regardless of their crime or affiliation, they do so professionally, responsibly, and in accordance with the law, which guarantees every citizen the right to litigation and defense.
