The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that it stands ready to support the return of Mr. Adnan’s body, should it be asked to do so by the involved parties, in accordance with our exclusively humanitarian mandate. 

The ICRC that they were in contact with the relevant authorities in relation to Mr. Adnan’s detention and hunger strike since February 2023. 

The ICRC visited Mr. Adnan four times in March and April 2023 and delivered news to his family. ICRC delegates visited Mr. Adnan to monitor his condition and treatment in line with our ongoing activities in places of detention in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory. 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Khader Adnan at this difficult time. The ICRC calls on the Israeli authorities to return the body of Mr. Adnan, so his family can mourn and arrange a dignified burial according to their customs and beliefs.
