Bethlehem/PNN / Monjed Jadou report -

The Israeli occupation continues to harass Palestinian citizens in order to ruin their joy during Eid Al-Fitr. This is evident through deliberate measures taken on the roads and streets between cities in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli authorities imposed racist measures, such as checkpoints and barriers at the entrances of cities on the second day of Eid Al-Fitr, when Palestinians travel to visit relatives or go for a walk towards Jericho.

Citizens wrote many comments on social media and shared videos and photos showing the practices of the Israeli army and their closure of roads in many areas, condemning these racist measures that contradict the occupation's claims of providing facilities for citizens during holidays.

According to citizens, the occupation carried out a campaign of harassment at checkpoints in Jericho, Al-Kontainer, Al-Hamra, and at the entrances of Nablus and the roads between Ramallah and Jericho, leading to the detention of thousands of families in their cars for hours.

The vehicle detentions created difficult situations for children, women, and the elderly.

Local sources described the occupation's measures and checkpoints as sadistic and humiliating practices aimed at subjugating Palestinians.

In Jericho, which is the only outlet for Palestinians during the holidays, the occupation army imposed strict measures and almost complete closure of the city, including checkpoints at various main and subsidiary entrances, leading to hundreds of cars forming long queues.

These checkpoints caused various forms of humanitarian suffering for Palestinians, including children, women, and the elderly, who were forced to wait for hours at military checkpoints

In Bethlehem, Israeli occupation measures and vehicle searches led soldiers to deliberately obstruct the movement of vehicles, causing a severe traffic jam at the Container checkpoint northeast of Bethlehem.

The Israeli army and police also erected a checkpoint at the entrance of the town of Al-Eizariya to the east of occupied Jerusalem, resulting in the disruption of movement for citizens in both directions.

In Nablus, Israeli forces continued to tighten their measures at military checkpoints around the city. Local sources reported that Israeli forces continued to close a number of checkpoints around the city, inspect vehicles, and scrutinize the IDs of citizens.

The sources added that the Hawara and Za'tara checkpoints south of the city witnessed closures from some directions on the second day of Eid al-Fitr, while the Surra and Deir Sharaf checkpoints are experiencing a traffic jam due to the occupation's obstruction of movement for citizens in both directions.
