Nablus / Amin Abu Wardeh – Recently B’Tselem, the Israeli organization working for Palestinian human rights, documented several cases of vandalism.
The focus was on the southern Mount Hebron area where Israeli soldiers blocked in the cars, broke windows and started fires. Eight Palestinian cars were targeted. The cars were left by workers attempting to enter the Green Line without Israeli permits. B’Tselem called on the Israeli military to investigate, which it says it will. In the meantime, two Israeli soldiers have been removed from their posts pending investigation. Caught on tape, as part of the “Shooting Back” program, is an incident on the twelfth of October in which black smoke is rising from a Ford Transit, south of Khirbet Village. B’Tselem researchers noticed a Subaru nearby with its windows smashed. Statements from witnesses led to B’Tselem questioning soldiers. After being detained, field researchers contacted an army liaison. Initial requests for investigation were ignored. |
