Hamas and Fateh delegations return to Cairo for fifth round of talks in national dialogue
15.05.09 - 22:08
Cairo / PNN – An Egyptian security official confirmed today that Hamas and Fateh leaders arrived in Egypt's northern Sinai through the Rafah border crossing.
The delegations are arriving in Cairo for the fifth round of talks in the national dialogue. Hopes for success are marred, however, by President Mahmoud Abbas’ announcement that appointed Prime Minister Salam Fayyad will appoint a new government.
Among the Hamas leadership is Ayman Taha, a senior negotiator who arrived at noon today at the southern Gaza Strip crossing along with Fateh Central Committee member Zakaria Agha.
The Egyptian security source said the remaining members of the delegations passed later in the day for the Saturday and Sunday session.
The comprehensive national dialogue is covering topics such as a makeover in the Palestine Liberation Organization, the rebuilding of Gaza after the major Israeli attacks and ongoing blockade, who will preside over security issues, armed resistance and how far to accept outstanding agreements such as Oslo.
