ImageJenin / Ali Samoudi for PNN - In the Al Naqab Israeli prison where hundreds of Palestinians are held in tents, the factions stated today that internal dialogue in Cairo “reflects clear, positive effects in the atmosphere between the Fateh and Hamas parties.”

This is in reference to the current national reconciliation talks hosted by the Egyptians.

Hamas and Fateh have been able to formulate and issue a joint statement, the first reversal of the strife in years. “This is the first time that the page has really turned on the issue. The parties are now showing full interest in resolving the conflict. A joint statement is a major step,” our sources told PNN correspondent Ali Samoudi.

“The past is being left behind and a new chapter is opening to establish positive relations that extend to the prisoners and to move home.”

PNN learned that over the past few days that some of the Hamas and Fateh leadership have worked toward a real solution, contributing to an internal atmosphere that supports the internal dialogue.

Our correspondent was able to obtain the first statement jointly signed by Fateh and Hamas prisoners.

The time is ripe, they say, to move steadily toward freedom and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state without accepting the Wall, the Judaization, the home demolitions and the uprooting of Palestinians.

Together we stand, divided we fall, the saying goes. Today in the prison of the occupying Israeli forces the possibilities for hope seem endless. The major national issues will not be negotiated from a divided front.
