AN Australian pro-Palestine activist says she was arrested at gunpoint, falsely imprisoned and denied food and phone contact for 15 hours over what Israeli authorities say is a visa irregularity.
Dr. Tibi to PNN: we are exposing Israel's policy in Gaza
30.12.08 - 19:08
PNN / Fadi Yacoub - Founder of the Yisrael Beiteinu party in the Israeli Knesset, Avigdor Liberman, called for the expulsion of the Palestinian members of the Israeli Knesset.
He referred to them as “members of the political bureau of the Hamas movement in the Knesset” for opposing the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip. This is the first time a call such as this, to expel Palestinians, has been issued.
The Russian-born Jew said, “We are the owners of the land,” referring to Palestinians as “immigrants.”
Among the Palestinian members of the Israeli Knesset, Dr. Ahmed Tibi told PNN on Tuesday afternoon, “We will conduct an information campaign to expose Israel's policy in Gaza.”
He said that Liberman’s remarks reflect hatred and exemplify the extent of injustice toward Palestinians living within the boundaries of 1948.
During a Knesset meeting yesterday right wing Israeli Benjamin Natenyahu applauded the massive destruction in the Gaza Strip which he referred to as “bloody.” One of the few other Palestinian members of the Knesset in addition to Tibi, Mohammad Baraka, said, “Shut up and stop dancing over fallen blood.” Liberman told him to, “Go there,” meaning to Gaza, “and don’t come back.”
On Saturday Palestinian members of the Israeli Knesset will join a major demonstration to show solidarity with the Gaza Strip under assault.
Dr. Tibi told PNN, “What is happening in Gaza is a war crime by any standards, and we must put an end to it.” He stressed the need to show more support and to further demonstrate “against Israel's policy of excessive force being used against our people in the Gaza Strip.”
Of the information campaign, Dr. Tibi said today that all media must become aware of what is actually happening in the Gaza Strip as too many have been manipulated into complicity. “We are speaking out, exposing the war drums and Israel’s policy of violence against the Gaza Strip.”
He said that what is happening is a “war of aggression coming on the eve of elections used as fuel for votes.”
Dr. Tibi added that there are “a number of seats in the Knesset that will be filled by the bodies of the killed.”
