Monday 17th September, occupation forces arrested Sunday evening head of manuscript and heritage of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh. Najeh Bkerat, after they raided his house in Sur Baher village, south of Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses said that number of Israeli soldiers raided the house of Sheikh Bkerat, arrested and transferred him to al-Maskobiya interrogation centre in east Jerusalem.

One week ago, Israeli forces informed Sheikh Bkerat of his prevention decision, which ban him from entering into al-Aqsa mosque for six months. The decision came few days after Bkerat has taken his responsibilities in the mosque, in an Israeli attempt to prevent Sheikh Bkerat from "defending the mosque and make activities that urge Palestinians to defend Al-Aqsa mosque and to bring back its sanctity," according to Bkerat family.
