Chilean Doctors Travel to Palestine to Help Children

The second Chilean medical team arrived in Palestine to perform cost – free surgeries for poor children in Nablus. The team members include orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Nahauff Chamas , Andres Chahin, and anesthesiologist Diego Villegas. The doctors will be working in Rafidia Hospital in Nablus performing orthopedic surgery, mainly focusing on spine, hips, knees and feet.
On November 2011 the first team of Chilean doctors arrived to Rafidia Hospital, were they performed 59 surgeries. The medical operations are performed through an agreement signed between the Palestine Children's Relief Organization Fund (PCRF) and the Chilean Society of Pediatric Surgery, with the support of the Palestinian Foundation Bethlehem 2000. "We are so thankful for the Chilean doctors for the wonderful work they are doing, they bring hope for the families and their children's "said Vivian Ghobar representative of Bethlehem 2000 foundation in Palestine.
The medical cooperation between Chile and Palestine will be intensified this year when new multidisciplinary missions, projecting at least six volunteer medical trips in the coming months. Additional, as part of the agreement, Palestinian children's continue to arrive in Chile to be operate, as happened in November 2011 when Mohammed Kharraz who came with his mother to be operated in Exequiel Gonzales Cortes Hospital in Santiago, Chile.
