Kairos Palestine Welcomes the Recent Decision of the Quaker

With profound gratitude, Kairos Palestine welcomes the recent decision of the Quaker Friends Fiduciary Corporation (FFC) to divest from Caterpillar Inc. Caterpillar manufactures and sells bulldozers to Israel, which are then used to destroy Palestinian homes and land. This courageous decision truly demonstrates the Friends' commitment to democratic rights and responsibilities; to economic and political equality; to active solidarity; and to peace with justice in our region.
Kairos Palestine hopes and prays that more churches will follow this lead by refusing to perpetuate their own financial complicity in companies that fund the injustice of occupation.
In addition to supporting these specific and critical divestment actions, Kairos Palestine supports the global campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) because it is a nonviolent, peace-seeking and ethically consistent tool, one that uses concrete instruments of solidarity and advocacy to promote equal rights for all human beings. In this way, we believe that BDS is a way to pressure the Israeli government to respect international law, honour human rights, and work towards a genuinely just peace.
