Supreme Court Justice Edna Arbel has moved Khader Adnan's hearing from Thursday 23rd February to today, Tuesday 21st February at 3pm. Israel's High Court is scheduled to hear the urgent petition of Adnan who has been held under administrative detention since December 17th 2011.

The move has been welcomed as lawyers and human rights groups representing Adnan were worried that the 33 year old from Arraba, near Jenin, would not survive until Thursday. Adnan will not be attending the hearing in person but will remain under guard at Ziv hospital in Safad, Israel. Lawyers representing him will however be attending the hearing in Jerusalem. There are no guarantees that a decision will be made by the court today despite the urgency that this case demands.

Administrative detention is detention without charge or trial. According to B'Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, as of December 2011, there are 307 Palestinians being held under administrative detention in Israeli prisons.

Today is Adnan's 66th day of hunger strike against his detention and his protest is already the longest running hunger strike in Palestinian history.
