Members of the Israeli right-wing party Likud, the party of current Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, declared that they would break into al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, the 12th of February, to prepare for building the Jewish temple on the ruins of the mosque.
Some websites belonging to Likud have recently published an announcement, in the name of Likud, calling on thousands of the party members to break into the mosque. At the head of this movement is Moche Feiglin. Feiglin was Netanyahu's opponent in the recent Likud elections, in which he received around 25% of the votes.
The announcement states, "We invite everyone to climb the Temple Mount to demonstrate authority and confirm full control over the Temple Mount; to cleanse the area of Israel's enemy, the land's thieves. We aim to build the temple over the ruins of al-Aqsa Mosque."
The Al-Aqsa Institute for Religious Affairs and Heritage said in a press release that "traveling to al-Aqsa mosque throughout the year would be a way to keep and protect the mosque from being profaned, and to preserve its sanctity."
It also stated that the "continuous Israeli incitements reflect Israel's intentions and goals towards al-Aqsa mosque. We call on the Arab world in general and Islamic nations in particular to take responsibility for stopping Israeli condescension and [aggressive] positioning."
