Committee Announces Preparation for National Youth Week “Palestine’s Time Has Come”

High Council of Youth and Sports in the PLO said in a press release, the Committee in charge of preparing for The National Youth Week announced this Thursday 16th August, that it is ready for this large event, scheduled between 11 and 15 November and due to include activities across the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The Committee, headed by General Jibreel Al-Rujoob, Secretary General for the High Council of Youth and Sports, was instructed by President Mahmoud Abbas, to prepare for a week-long event celebrating Palestinian youth.
The Committee announced it had convened several meeting to discuss this event "which will have a sports nature and reflect Palestine's unity over the Palestinian people's right to establish their own state, with Jerusalem as its capital", said the press statement.
The Committee reaffirmed that the week-long event will be a national event that includes all sectors of Palestinian youth will reflect the Palestinian people's determination for freedom and independence. "The activities will highlight the extent to which the current status quo of occupation is no longer sustainable or tolerable," the statement went on.
"This event will be an opportunity to convey a clear message from the Palestinian people: that Palestine's time has come and that our certainty that justice shall defeat oppression is unshakable" the statement concluded.
The Committee announced it will hold a press conference after the Eid holiday to formally inaugurate its work and announce the formation of various working sub-committees.
The week-long event coincides with the eighth anniversary of the passing of the late Yasser Arafat (11 November) and the twenty-fourth anniversary of the Palestinian declaration of independence (15 November).
