On Monday, 17th June, Hebrew-Language broadcast said that three Palestinians and one Israeli were killed. Other Israelis were injured in a military operation in an exchange of fire on the Egyptian-Israeli border.

Israeli media sources said that that a Palestinian group executed the operation, though they were unable to penetrate the fence along the Gaza-Sinai border.

An Israeli broadcast reported "at least one Israeli was killed during clashes between Israel Defence Forces and Palestinians on the southern border with Egypt."

Israeli Sources said that the Palestinians set off an explosive device on the border and claimed that they fired a rocket at a team of Defense Ministry employees who were working on the construction of the fence.

Forces from the Israeli army and police started a precautionary search campaign in the area, suspecting other possible military operations and attacks.
