On Monday, 21st May, the Israeli Knesset approved a law that will exempt those who donate to pro-settlement organizations from paying tax on their donations.
Knesset Coalition Chairman, Ze'ev Elkin – who is a settler himself – admitted that the purpose of the law is to encourage Israeli settlement in the West Bank.
Elkin said that, according to the new law, anyone who donates to the benefit of settlements will be offered a 35% tax exemption.
The opposition in the Knesset confirmed that the law aims to encourage settlement in the occupied territories. Elkin expressed his relief that such law supporting Israel and its settlement has been passed.
