On Sunday 20th May, tens of thousands of Israeli youths marched through Jerusalem's Old City to the Western Wall to celebrate the 1967 "reunification" of the city by the Israeli army. Young Israeli marchers waving flags and singing songs started gathering outside the Old City from mid-afternoon. Most entered the Old City through the Damascus gate where Palestinian counter protestors gathered.

Chief Palestinian Negotiator, Dr. Saeb Erekat slammed the Israeli government's celebrations of the so called 'Reunification Day' celebrated on 20th May, in Occupied East Jerusalem, as "clear proof that peace is not part of the Israeli government's agenda". He added, "The Israeli government is allowing thousands of extremists and zealots to march through the occupied City and threaten Palestinian civilians, while cutting off Palestinian access to Jerusalem hospitals, schools, commercial centers, churches and mosques. Clearly, this behaviour reflects the mentality of a colonizer, rather than a supposed peace partner".

On Monday, 14th May, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered the evacuation of a house in Hebron occupied by settlers last month amid worries that Israeli officials could be caught up in war crime litigation. Attorney General Yehadu Weinstein warned Netanyahu and Defence Minister, Ehud Barak, the expropriation of Palestinian land and homes, such as the Hebron takeover, could lead to Israeli officials being indicted at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
